Mayor proposes expanded curfew for Fremont Street Experience

Move comes after two recent shootings

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Following a recent spate of violent incidents at the Fremont Street Experience, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman on Tuesday threw out the possibility that a curfew for those under 21 might be put into place. Currently, there is a curfew for the city for those 18 and under.

The Mayor tweeted out, after meeting with Metro Police and downtown property owners, that law enforcement presence would be beefed up, as well.

The Fremont Street Experience has had two shooting in recent weeks. The more recent one was on July 4th, stemming from a fight. The person who was shot was not seriously hurt. The shooter remains at large.

Two weeks ago, a 25 year-old man was shot and killed after a fight between two groups broke out at Binion’s and spilled outside onto the Experience. A 16 year-old was arrested a week later. for firing the fatal shots.
