Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police have arrested a man they say engaged in a shootout with them on Friday night.
Metro investigators say that just before 10:30pm, police located a vehicle linked to a suspect in a violent felony case and attempted to pull it over. Police lost the vehicle in the initial pursuit, but located it nearby shortly after.
Police say the suspect, identified as Jaime Mendoza, wrecked the car near Las Vegas Boulevard and Owens, and fled on foot. During the foot chase, police say Mendoza pulled out a gun and fired at officers who were in pursuit. No one was hit.
Mendoza was able to elude police for just over a day, but was located and arrested on Sunday. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a number of felony charges.
