Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police said Friday that two men have been arrested in Chicago who they say were involved a scam that bilked thousands of dollars from people who thought they were applying for a job.
On the morning on January 30th, Las Vegas Metro Police responded to a large crowd of unhappy people outside of a business complex near Sunset and Pecos.
According to Metro, in early January there was a job offer listed online advertising employment for a third-party delivery service. The victims were instructed to report to a business in the 3100 block of East Sunset Road to fill out an application and pay a fee.
Once the money was collected, a future interview date was provided. The victims then returned to the business to follow up on the application and learned it had been vacated by the suspects involved.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify 41-year-old Juan Vera and 39-year-old Fabiola Llanes as the suspects in the case. On Thursday, both were taken into custody by the Chicago Police Department pending extradition to Las Vegas.
