Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A burglary suspect was shot and killed on Wednesday morning after attempting to break into a central valley home.
Las Vegas Metro Police say a pair of men attempted to get into a home near Desert Inn and Rainbow. The homeowner, a man in his 70s, alerted his son, who got a gun. Police say the son, a man in his 50s, fired at the suspects, who then attempted to flee.
One of the suspects died in the home’s backyard. Police say the other suspect drove off, but got into a traffic accident near Tropicana and Decatur a short time later and was arrested at that scene. Police say the second suspect was wounded in the leg, but the wound isn’t considered life-threatening.
No one else was hurt. Investigators say both the homeowner and his son were cooperating with their investigation, and that the shooting appears to be a case of self-defense
