
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A Las Vegas Metro Police K-9 is recovering after being stabbed trying to subdue a suspect.
It happened Monday night in a neighborhood near Flamingo and Maryland Parkway.
Police were called to the scene on reports of a stabbing, and located the man thought to be the suspect inside of a car.
Police say that while officers were establishing a perimeter, 30-year-old Ezekiel Barnes than attempted to set the car on fire.
Police that turned K-9 Diko on the Barnes, who then stabbed the K-9 multiple times. Police say that they then used other “low lethal” options to take Barnes into custody.
K-9 Diko was taken to a veterinary center for treatment of his wounds. Barnes was first transported to U.M.C., then taken to Clark County Detention Center. He faces multiple charges including one of Injure/Attempt to Kill a Police Animal.
