Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A wild chase to stop a robbery suspect ended with both the suspect and a Metro Police officer hospitalized on Thursday night.
According to police, just after 7pm, officers were conducting a follow-up investigation into a robbery from earlier this year near Cheyenne and Pecos when they saw their suspect steal a car at gunpoint and gave chase.
Metro says along the way, shots were exchanged by both the suspect and police near Craig and North 5th, but no one was hit.

Later, the suspect’s vehicle entered a parking lot near Desert Inn and Decatur, where police say the suspect attempted to steal another vehicle. Officers fired at the suspect as the pursuit continued to the area of Decatur and Charleston where the suspect collided with an LVMPD K9 unit.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and was transported to UMC with non-life threatening injuries. The K9 officer was also transported to UMC with non-life threatening injuries.
Earlier in the pursuit, a second officer was involved in a collision and sustained minor injuries. That officer was also transported to UMC for treatment.
Thursday night’s incident was the 7th Metro Police officer-involved shooting of 2022. Per LVMPD policy, the identity of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours.
