Metro Police detective faces charges for off-duty incident

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) ­- A Las Vegas Metro Police detective is currently suspended without pay for a May incident that occurred while the detective was off duty.

According to a news release from Metro, Detective Colin Snyder faces two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of oppression under the color of law for an incident that happened on May 19.

Metro says that Snyder got into an argument with another person over driving in a neighborhood near Buffalo and Regatta drives. Police said Snyder drove his car to his home and returned in his assigned unmarked Metro police vehicle to the person's location. The release said the "situation further escalated and Snyder drew his firearm."

Snyder has been with Metro since 2016 and is currently assigned to the Theft Crimes Bureau.
