
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A Las Vegas Metro Police officer is recovering after getting shot by his own weapon while trying to subdue a man late Friday afternoon.
Just before 5pm, officers responded to a call about a suicidal man attempting to walk into traffic on U.S. 95 around Charleston.
According to a statement released by the LVMPD, a violent struggle ensued as attempts were made to get the man to a safe place, and one of the officer's guns discharged, striking the officer in the leg.
Both the officer and the suicidal man were taken to a nearby hospital, where both were listed in stable condition.
A second Metro officer suffered minor injuries in a traffic accident responding the the scene.
