Las Vegas, NV (AP) - Police say four law enforcement officers fired 26 shots at a carjacking suspect with a fatally injured Nevada Highway Patrol trooper still lodged inside his disabled car after a chase on I-15 last week.

Video from last week's incident was released by the Metro Police Department during a media briefing on Monday.

A Metro Police spokesman said Monday that trooper Micah May wasn't hit by any shots fired during last Tuesday's incident. May died two days later from injuries suffered from being hit while laying down stop strips on I-15 South near the Neon Gateway exit.

Suspect Douglas Claiborne was shot and killed shortly after police disabled the car he was driving by using a pit maneuver near the Spring Mountain Road exit. Officers say they shot Claiborne because he was reaching for Trooper May's gun as they approached the disabled car.

Police were chasing Claiborne because the 60-year-old had stolen the car near a construction site at Las Vegas Boulevard and Sunset.

A candlelight vigil for Trooper May will be held Tuesday night at 6 at Police Memorial Park on Cheyenne between Hualapai and Grand Canyon. May's funeral is scheduled for Friday at Central Christian Church in Henderson.
