Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police released more details Monday on an officer-involved shooting from last week that left a kidnapping suspect in critical condition.

It all started in the early morning hours last Friday when Henderson Police received a 911 text from a woman who said she had been kidnapped and feared for her life.

Boulder City Police officers located the vehicle being driven by the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Jeffrey Hair, in the area of U.S. 95 and Mile Marker 39. Attempts to stop the car were unsuccessful and the chase was on.

The chase eventually entered Las Vegas with Metro Police taking charge in the area of Owens and Hollywood. Metro said that a pit maneuver disabled Hair’s car near Charleston and Lamb, and that two people then ran out of the car toward the safety of officers. A third kidnapping victim remained in the car with Hair and Metro called SWAT for assistance.

Police then say that when it was discovered that Hair was pointing a gun toward the hostage, one of the officers, identified as 40-year-old Jonathan Collingwood, fired his weapon and struck Hair. SWAT officers then approached the vehicle and rescued the third hostage.

Hair remains hospitalized at University Medical Center. The incident remains under investigation.
