Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police released more information Monday about a shooting at a northwest valley health club
Las Vegas Metro Police first got the call just after 1:30pm Friday about the shooting at the Las Vegas Athletic Club at Rainbow and Lake Mead.
An employee of the LVAC, Edgar Quinonez, was shot and killed, with a second hospitalized in critical condition.
One Monday, Metro identified the shooter as 34-year-old Daniel Ortega. Ortega was shot by Metro Police after he exited the gym. He died after being taken to the hospital.
Police say he fired 24 rounds before his weapon malfunctioned. Shortly afterward, Ortega ran out of the business and was shot by Metro.
The motive for the attack is still unknown, but said that there was no connection between Quinonez and Ortega.
Three officers involved in the shooting are currently on paid administrative leave pending the results on Metro’s investigation.
The gym was closed all weekend, but reopened on Monday morning
