The puppy was left inside of the car on the afternoon of July 20th, with no food or water, and its mouth had been taped shut. The car was also in direct sunlight.

Police got a call from hotel security about the dog, and after they responded, went through the vehicle’s sunroof to rescue the dog.

Metro said that the dog’s owner, identified as 50-year-old Raul Carbajal of Corona Del Mar, had left the dog in the car while he went inside and gambled.

The dog continues to receive treatment from Animal Control. A court date for Carbajal is set for October 26th.
