
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A deadly week on the Valley roads continued Thursday night when a pickup truck hit a pedestrian and the driver fled the scene.
It happened just after 7 at the intersection of Lake Mead and Nellis.
Witness statements, evidence at the scene, and surveillance video indicated a gray newer model GMC pickup truck with a trailer was stopped on East Lake Mead Boulevard preparing to make a northbound turn on to North Nellis Boulevard.
The pedestrian was walking south on the east sidewalk of North Nellis Boulevard entering the crosswalk to cross East Lake Mead Boulevard.
A collision occurred when the GMC accelerated, making a right turn striking the pedestrian. The GMC immediately fled. Arriving medical personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The pedestrian's death marks the 44th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction for 2021.
