Metro seeking trio of suspects thought responsible for train derailment

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Las Vegas Metro Police detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify individuals whose actions may be responsible for a train derailment that caused nearly $25,000 in damages and clean-up costs.

On the afternoon of May 23rd at approximately 5:20 p.m., LVMPD Communications received a report of a train derailment in the 9700 block of South Rainbow Boulevard (between Blue Diamond and Mountains Edge Parkway). The derailment activated the train crossing barriers causing traffic issues.

Officers and railroad officials responded to the scene and discovered that someone tampered with three railroad carts. The tampering triggered one cart to roll off the tracks and the other two carts to dump out rocks.

Detectives have identified three persons of interest who were seen in a truck in the area, and they would like to speak with them.
