
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - The LVMPD Sex Offender Apprehension Team and the U.S. Marshals Service District of Nevada Sexual Offender Predator Apprehension Team held a joint summertime sex offender verification operation on June 13-17.

By the end of the operation, 1,764 sex offenders were contacted throughout the Las Vegas valley, resulting in 24 arrests.
Charges included failure to obey sex offender registration laws, sexual assault with child less than 14, lewdness with child less than 14, possession of visual porn of person less than 16, and other arrest warrants.
The Clark County School District Police Department, Las Vegas City Marshals, Nevada State Police – Investigation Division, and Nevada State Police – Parole & Probation assisted with the operation.
The LVMPD says that sex offenders who are required to register must verify their address with law enforcement according to their assigned tier.
• Tier 3 offenders required to check in quarterly
• Tier 2 offenders required to check in bi-annually
• Tier 1 offenders required to check in annually
