Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The Las Vegas Metro Police Department has issued a warning about calls made to residents claiming to be them.
Metro says that’s not the case.
Investigators say the caller informs the person on the other end that they have an outstanding warrant. They then instruct the caller to meet at a location to pay the warrant off with cash or gift cards. In some cases, the caller will be asked to scan a QR code, which police say transfers funds immediately.
Metro says they simply don’t conduct business that way, and say if you get such a call to just hang up.
You can report the suspicious call by going to IC3.gov and filing a report.
