
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Holiday weekends are hotbeds of heavy drinking and Las Vegas Metro Police were out in force to stop those that had a few too many.
Statistics released on Tuesday showed that Metro made 48 DUI arrests over the period between August 30th and September 2nd. In addition, Metro says they issued 229 citations for a variety of violations. In total, 491 vehicles were stopped
Also Tuesday, the Henderson Police Department released its numbers for its pedestrian safety "Joing Forces" campaign that ran from August 7th through the 31st.
HPD says that over the course of their operation, 411 stops were completed, Traffic Officers issued 219 citations for speeding, 11 distracted driving citations (such as cell phone use), and 175 other traffic related citations.
The Henderson Police Department received $196,000 in federal funding for the enhanced enforcement initiatives through the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety.
