Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A cyber-attack that began on Sunday is continuing to affect MGM Resorts properties not just in Las Vegas, but nationwide.

On Wednesday, a Russian gang posted on X (formerly Twitter) that it was responsible for the attack, saying that all it took was finding an MGM employee on LinkedIn, calling the help desk, and then getting the necessary information to hack into MGM’s computer system.

The outage has affected many thing, including reservation systems, room keys and slot machines. MGM says it will be waiving fees for now for guests who wish to cancel an upcoming stay

It hasn’t been said what the demands of the ransomware gang were. The F.B.I. is helping MGM with its investigation into the attack.

It also came to light this week that a ransomware gang recently hit Caesars Entertainment properties. According to a report from Bloomberg, in late August, the company paid millions to the hackers to free data after it was seized when the gang gained access through an outside vendor.
