Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – One of the biggest road construction projects in Southern Nevada history is approaching the finish line.
Work began back in 2022 to rebuild the interchange at I-15 and Tropicana, and drivers have been dealing with closures, lane restrictions and plenty of cones since the work began.
A major milestone in the project comes on Thursday, but not without a little more pain preceding.
Until Thursday morning at 5, Tropicana is closed from Las Vegas Boulevard west to Polaris, and all the on and off-ramps at I-15 and Tropicana will be closed.
That’s the pain. Then comes the payoff.
Come Thursday morning at 5, Tropicana will reopen over I-15 with four lanes open in each direction. In addition, all the on and off-ramps at I-15 and Tropicana will also open back up. Some of those ramps have been closed since the project’s inception three years ago.
The Nevada Department of Transportation says that a fifth lane of traffic will open up on both sides of I-15 at Tropicana some time in May, but haven’t given an exact date.
