Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A man died Tuesday night after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a Metro Police squad car in Summerlin.
Just before 11pm, a marked LVMPD patrol vehicle was making a U-turn from southbound to northbound Rampart Boulevard south of Conception Drive. A 2011 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling northbound Rampart Boulevard south of Conception Drive.
While the patrol vehicle was making the U-turn, the motorcycle overturned, causing the rider to be ejected from the motorcycle striking the rear of the patrol vehicle. The officer in the patrol vehicle immediately requested medical personnel, but despite medical intervention the rider of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision investigation is being conducted by the Nevada Highway Patrol and marks the 80th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2021.
