Mountain lion euthanized in west-side neighborhood

Cats have been sighted several times in past few months

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) had to euthanize a mountain lion Tuesday morning.

Police called NDOW to the Elysian at Flamingo apartment complex, near Flamingo and Hualapai. As police blocked off the area, wardens made several attempts to sedate the mountain lion before euthanizing it - in their words "for the safety of all involved.”

There have been several mountain lion sightings around the valley in the past few months, but this marks the first time that one of the big cats had to be killed
