LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas neighborhood has been alerted that a mountain lion was seen in the area over the weekend.

Neighbors living near Desert Inn and Hualapai say the animal has been spotted more than once. One neighbor’s doorbell camera actually captured footage of the mountain lion Friday night.

It’s not unheard of for mountain lions to make their way to more urban areas. In July, one was seen in backyards in the Summerlin area

Wildlife officials were able to track it down and sedate it.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife says any resident who sees a mountain lion should immediately call 911 and do not approach it.

The agency tries to catch and release wildlife before resorting to euthanizing.
