Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Police are calling the deaths of two adults and two children at a northwest valley apartment a case of murder-suicide.

Police were originally called to the apartment in the 7500 block of Oso Blanca, near Durango and U.S. 95, after the male adult’s brother had gone to the unit to do a status check. When officers arrived, they discovered five bodies at the scene: two adults, and three juveniles.

The male and female adult, along with two of the juveniles, were pronounced dead at the scene. The third juvenile was rushed to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police on Tuesday identified the shooter as the shooter as Marvin Ray Patterson. Patterson died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police say he also shot and killed 34-year-old Schinara Patterson, 14-year-old Ki'Ziah Cone, and 6-year-old Zi'Myra Patterson.

A 5th shooting victim, only identified as a juvenile under the age of 14, is hospitalized with critical injuries.

Police say that Marvin Patterson was under house arrest on numerous sex crimes charges against children over the span of 9 years. Patterson's bail was originally set at $100,000, but was later reduced by a judge to $10,000.
