Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – High-Occupancy Vehicle lanes has been a recent addition to Las Vegas freeways, and a not very popular one at that. Now, a couple of years after their introduction, the Nevada Department of Transportation want to know what you think.
“This survey marks an important step in understanding how Nevadans use and benefit from the HOV lanes,” said NDOT spokesperson Kelsey McFarland. “We’re committed to enhancing the HOV system to ensure it meets the needs of all users, supports efficient travel, and promotes safety across the state.”
The survey, accessible at dot.nv.gov/HOVStudy, takes approximately five minutes to complete and covers topics such as travel patterns, peak hour usage, and suggestions for potential improvements. The survey is available through Friday, December 13, 2024.
In 2023, the Nevada Transportation Board of Directors voted to change HOV lane operating hours to weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The board also directed NDOT to conduct a National Environmental Policy Act study to determine the future of HOV lanes in Southern Nevada. By gathering public feedback, NDOT will evaluate if current hours and lane policies align with the community’s needs and expectations.
