Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A man faces DUI and hit and run charges after he ran over a woman that was lying in a road early Wednesday
The incident happened at Jones and Harmon around 2:30am. The police report says 30 year-old Christopher Bustillos was heading southbound on Jones when he ran over 22 year-old Emmet Asmamwa. Police say Asmamwa was suicidal after a fight with her boyfriend and was lying down on southbound Jones.
Police say a witness told them they tried to wave Bustillos away from the woman but he ran over her. They say he got out of the car, but after see the woman he got back into his car and took off, carrying Asmamwa a short way before she fell back onto the road.
Bustillos was arrested a short time later near Warm Springs and 215, failing a field sobriety test in the process.
Bustillos is facing felony charges of DUI resulting in death and failure to stop at the scene of a crash. His bail was set at $75,000
