Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - The Nevada Department of Transportation hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday morning to mark the completion of the I-15/Tropicana Interchange.
“This was one of the most ambitious transportation projects ever undertaken in Southern Nevada, and today we can proudly say it’s complete… this new interchange will keep people, goods, and our economy moving for decades to come,” said NDOT Director Tracy Larkin Thomason.
In total, the project took three years to complete and cost roughly $382 million (up from the original estimate of $305 million). So what did we get for all that?
- A raised and widened Tropicana Avenue bridge (four lanes each direction) to improve capacity and clearance
- New and expanded freeway ramp connections for more reliable access to the resort corridor
- Reconfigured Dean Martin Dr/Tropicana Ave intersection for better traffic flow
- A new connection via Joey Bishop Drive to enhance local access
- Active Traffic Management signs on I-15 to support real-time operations around big events and incidents
- Wider sidewalks, landscaping, and upgraded technology to support people walking and driving
Rules regarding HOV lanes between Spring Mountain Road and Silverado Ranch were suspended during construction, but will be enforced again beginning on Thursday, September 25th.
