Nevada continues to add jobs but full recovery a ways off

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT)- Unemployment in Nevada added back 2,400 jobs over the month as the state continues to recover.

Jobs remain below typical levels, down 153,500 jobs since February 2020, for an annual decline of 10.6% according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) February 2021 economic report.

The state’s unemployment rate in February is 8.3%, down from 8.5% in January and up 4.6 percentage points when compared to February 2020.

In the Las Vegas area, compared to February 2020 total nonfarm employment saw a decrease of 144,200 jobs (-13.7%). The three sectors with the largest employment growth are leisure and hospitality, construction, and state government.
