
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - As then Clark County School District prepares to begin another semester during the Covid-19 pandemic, the financial website WalletHub is out with their new survey on both the best and worst performing school systems in the county.
The new WalletHub survey wasn’t too kind to the Silver State, ranking Nevada 39th out of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 32 key measures of quality and safety, ranging from pupil-teacher ratio and dropout rate to median standardized-test scores.
Nevada ranked 39th in the category of ‘quality’, and 46th in the category of ‘safety’. Also hurting the overall score; a last place finish in ‘lowest median ACT score’ (tied with three other states), and a 47th-place finish in the 'highest pupil-teacher ratio’ category.
On the plus side, WalletHub ranked Nevada 5th in the category of ‘lowest bullying incident rate’
Massachusetts was ranked as having the top performing school districts, followed by Connecticut, New Jersey, Virginia and New Hampshire.
States getting failing grades from WalletHub: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
