Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The co-defendant in the case involving last summer’s heat-related death of an English bulldog named Reba will not have to spend any more time in jail.
A judge on Monday sentenced Markeisha Foster to 7 months in jail, with credit for time already served. In addition, Foster was sentenced to 7 months probation.
Last week, the other defendant in the case - Isaac Laushal Jr. - was sentenced to 16 to 48 months in prison, also with credit for time already served.
Laushal and Foster, left Reba in a sealed bin behind a business near Maryland Parkway and Twain in July of 2024, on a day where the high temperature exceeded 110 degrees. Reba was rushed to the vet immediately after being found but died from the effects of the heat the next day.
Lauhal and Foster were both arrested in December after video was released of two suspects driving up to the business and leaving the bin by the dumpster.
Foster entered a plea deal in the case earlier this year.
Reba’s case led to Nevada lawmakers passing tougher animal cruelty legislation, which earned the nickname, “Reba’s Law”.
