NV Energy asking customers to conserve usage during extreme heat

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The National Weather Service on Thursday extended the Excessive Heat Warning for southern Nevada until Tuesday night, as highs are expected to hit 110 degrees each day.

When temps get that hot, energy demand expands and utility NV Energy sent out a tweet asking customers to do their best to conserve energy during the peak demand time of the day between 5pm and 8p.

Among the pieces of advice: try and keep air conditioner units at 78 or higher, keep drapes and shutters closed so the sun doesn't bake through the windows, and unplug any appliances not in use.
