Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - The Nye County Sheriff’s Office has identified human remains found last year as a Pahrump man who went missing in August of 2022, and is renewing a request for the public’s assistance in that case.
Daniel Patrick Core was reported missing by family members in September 2022, however the subsequent investigation found that he was last seen in August of that year riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle near Homestead Road and Gamebird Road in Pahrump. NCSO Detectives conducted a lengthy investigation, however the leads on his whereabouts grew cold.
In June of 2023, skeletal human remains were found in a southwest desert area outside of Pahrump, and although an autopsy was conducted by the Clark County Office of Coroner and Medical Examiner, the person remained unidentified.
In December 2023, Detectives requested the assistance of Othram laboratory, located in The Woodlands, Texas, which subsequently developed a DNA extract from the remains, using Forensic-Grade Genome Sequencing® to build a genealogical profile and potential leads towards the identification of the victim.
Using the information provided, Detectives were then able to confirm remains as those of Core.
Anyone with information about Daniel Core is urged to contact the Nye County Sheriff’s Office at 775-751-7000, or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555, or by internet at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
