Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police are investigating after they say a suicidal man charged at them with a gun at the South Point Hotel on Sunday night.
The man was shot by Metro and died at the scene.
Police were first called to the hotel just after 5pm on reports of a suicidal man who wouldn’t leave his room.
After a standoff that lasted several hours, police say the man emerged from the room with a long gun. Metro said that the man ignored repeated requests to drop the weapon and eventually charged at officers. That’s when the fatal shots were fired.
The shooting marked the 16th involving Metro Police so far in 2024.
