Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A shooting involving Las Vegas Metro Police ended with a man dead over the weekend.

Police were originally called to a home near Sunset and Durango on Saturday afternoon. When then arrived they heard the sound of a gunshot coming from inside the residence.

Police then say the suspect came out of his home with his weapon and was ordered repeatedly to drop it. Instead, Metro says he pointed it at officers. A nearby officer, identified Monday as 27-year-old Larry Jones, fired his weapon and struck the man, who died at a hospital shortly afterward.

Jones has been with the department since 2019, and is currently assigned to the Community Safety Division, Summerlin Area Command. He's on paid administrative leave pending the results of the investigation.

The name of the man who was shot has yet to be released

The incident marked the second officer-involved shooting so far in 2025.
