Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The DMV isn’t a place that most people look forward to going to under the best of circumstances, and for Nye County residents, it’s become much more of an effort.

A fire inside the Pahrump DMV on Friday caused heavy damage to the interior of the facility, which is now closed indefinitely.

Residents now have to come to Las Vegas to do their DMV business. The DMV says they will allow walk-ins from Pahrump, but residents need to say that they’re from Nye County when they first show up.

Also, drivers’ tests that were scheduled to be taken at the Pahrump facility will now be handled exclusively at the Las Vegas DMV location on Flamingo and Buffalo.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No one was hurt.
