Park Service recovers drowning victim at Lake Mead

Boulder City, NV (NPS) - National Park Service rangers recovered the body of a man who drowned near the Cottonwood Cove area of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area on Saturday.

On Friday afternoon, 911 calls came in about a 44-year-old man was seen struggling while attempting to swim back to his boat. The man wasn’t wearing a personal floatation device and was unable to retrieve multiple life jackets that were thrown overboard from people on the boat.

A Park Service dive team conducted a search of the area through the evening Friday until heavy winds suspended the search. Search and rescue efforts resumed Saturday morning and the body was located and recovered at approximately 11:00 a.m.

The Clark County Coroner has been notified and the incident remains ongoing.

The man’s identity has not been released.
