Red Flag Warning in effect for S. Nevada on Thursday

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Southern Nevada is under a Red Flag Warning Thursday, with winds consistently expected to reach 30mph, with gusts to 50 being felt at times.

Winds forecast for the Spring Mountains have caused NV Energy to consider shutting the power off to nearly 500 residents beginning Thursday afternoon, with power being turned back on Friday morning.

The Red Flag Warning for Southern Nevada will stay in place until 5am Friday. After that, The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch from 5 a.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Saturday.

The gusty winds will bring in much cooler temperatures for the next couple of days. Highs are only expected to reach the low 70s on Saturday and Sunday.
