Officer-involved shooting closes Red Rock Scenic Loop

Area was expected to be packed with Veterans Day revelers

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A combination of perfect weather and a holiday would usually mean a lot of people taking a spin around the Red Rock Scenic Loop. Not Thursday, though.

Red Rock sent out a tweet around 8am Thursday, saying that the Loop was closed until further notice. Las Vegas Metro Police said after that tweet was sent that there was an officer-involved shooting involving Nevada Highway patro.

NHP says they responded to a call of a man acting strangely near the entrance to the loop around 6:30am. They say the man was shot when he attempted to ramp his pickup into NHP vehicles. He was transported to a hospital, and his wounds were not life-threatening. No ooficers were hurt.

The Red Rock Loop will be closed for all of Thursday, and is expected to reopen on Friday.
