
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A rideshare driver is currently parked in a jail cell, accused of committing sexual assault on a passenger.

In the early morning hours last Saturday, LVMPD’s Sexual Assault Detectives responded to UMC regarding a sexual assault.
The victim stated she had requested a ride share service a couple of days prior and the driver, later identified as Dawed Mekonene, 30, arrived in his green Toyota Camry.
During the ride, the victim fell asleep in the backseat of the vehicle and woke up as Mekonene began to sexually assault her. After the assault, the victim was driven to the originally requested destination. On Monday, LVMPD Sexual Offender Apprehension Program Detectives located and took Mekonene into custody. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he faces charges for sexually motivated kidnapping, sexual assault (2 counts), and battery by strangulation with intent to commit sexual assault.
