Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - A road rage incident near Boulder Highway and Desert Inn has ended with the death of an elderly man.
Police say it began when a Jeep was driving eastbound on Desert Inn and a Suburban cut it off. The driver of the Jeep honked, and a passenger in the Suburban got out and threw a beer can at the Jeep.
The Jeep's driver, a man in his 70s, got out and confronted the passenger and a brief scuffle ensued. The passenger got back into the Suburban and the driver took off, running over the driver of the Jeep.
A Las Vegas Metro Police officer was able to track down the Suburban, and two people were taken into custody. The man who was run over was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition, and passed away from his injuries on Wednesday afternoon.
Though the coroner hasn't released the name of the man who died, family members have identified him as 73-year-old Marlin Smith. The names of the two people arrested have not yet been released.
