Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) -Due to an increase in pandemic-related issues and an ongoing labor shortage, the Regional Transportation Commission says it will operate transit service on a Saturday schedule starting on Tuesday and continuing until further notice.

RTC officials say the change will help provide a more predictable and reliable schedule for customers as the RTC works to keep existing drivers healthy and train new operators.
“At the RTC, providing safe and reliable transit to our customers is our number one priority. As we continue to navigate the impacts of ongoing global labor shortages and COVID-19, we recognize that current service delays are negatively impacting many of our riders, and we sincerely apologize for the disruptions,” said Francis Julien, RTC deputy chief executive officer.
“By transitioning our system to a Saturday schedule on weekdays, we are able to greatly reduce delayed or missed trips, ensuring that riders who utilize transit services for work, school, medical appointments and more, experience greater reliability. We thank you for your patience as we work to ensure our community remains connected.”
To thank customers for their continued patience, patronage and support during the pandemic, the RTC will be showing its appreciation during Transit Rider Appreciation Week with giveaways and prizes. RTC will inform riders about the new Saturday schedule change along popular transit routes and at pop-up events:
- Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Bonneville Transit Center, 101 E. Bonneville Ave.
- Thursday, Feb. 24, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the South Strip Transit Terminal, 6675 Gilespie St.
