Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The National Park Service said Tuesday that a set of skeletal remains found at the Callville Bay area of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area last October have been identified as those of a man who drowned in the area nearly 50 years ago.

39-year-old Donald Smith of North Las Vegas was first reported missing back in April of 1974.

Investigators say they’re convinced that Smith’s death was an accidental drowning and that no foul play was involved.

Smith’s remain were one of several that have been found at the lake in recent months and water level dropped to record low levels.
