Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police have arrested a man in connection with an improvised explosive device that went off in front of a restaurant east of the Strip early Thursday

According to Metro, the explosion outside of Piero’s happened in the 2am hour on Thursday, but wasn’t reported until a cleaning crew happened upon the device several hours later.

Metro was then called to the scene and shut down Convention Center Drive between The Strip and Paradise Road to investigate.

According to the LVMPD, the package was placed in front of the restaurant around 2:20am by two men dressed in all black, one of whom arrived on a scooter.

Both suspects approached the front door of the restaurant and placed an improvised explosive device down. The device was then set on fire and, after several moments, detonated, causing damage to the unoccupied building.

Investigators were able to identify one of the suspects as 35-year-old John Navarro. On Saturday, Navarro was located and taken into custody. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a number of charges.

This is still an ongoing investigation. If you have any information regarding the incident, please contact detectives at 702-828-7777, or online at SNCTC - Home. To remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 702-385-5555, or on the internet at www.crimestoppers.com.
