Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A portion of I-15 between Las Vegas and Mesquite was closed for a short time on Tuesday morning to allow a small plane to make an emergency landing on the freeway.
The plane experienced engine trouble not long after taking off from the North Las Vegas Airport, and the pilot radioed that he didn’t think he had time to return to the airport.
Nevada State Police were alerted and set up a perimeter that closed the freeway in both directions between the Valley of Fire and Moapa.
Just before 9am, the plane touched down in the northbound lanes of I-15.
The landing was flawless, the pilot wasn’t hurt, and the freeway was opened in both directions not long afterward.
