The crash happened around 4:30am at the intersection of Eastern and St. Rose Parkway. Police say a Jeep SUV was stopped at a traffic signal on westbound St Rose Parkway, when a second vehicle crashed into it at a high rate of speed.

Investigators say that the force of the collision ruptured the gas tank of the Jeep, causing it to burst into flames. The driver of the Jeep was rushed to Sunrise Hospital but later died from their injuries. The name of that person has yet to be released.

Though impairment isn’t thought to be a factor in the crash, Henderson Police say that speed definitely was. Charges against the driver, who has also yet to be identified, are pending.

The crash was the 2nd fatal traffic accident in HPD’s jurisdiction so far in 2022.
