Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Cleanup continues in the Spring Mountains following heavy rains that came from the remnants of Tropical Storm Hilary a couple of weekends ago, and officials says it’s going to take awhile before things start to get back to normal.
It was announced on Friday that both Mount Charleston and Lee Canyon will be closed to visitors until at least October 1st.
A temporary travel lane has opened up on Kyle Canyon Road (State Route 157), but it’s only open to residents and work crews, not to visitors. State Routes 156 and 158 remain closed indefinitely.
Electricity was restored to the mountain communities late last week, while a ‘boil water’ order was lifted for most residents of the Rainbow subdivision. The order remains in effect for residents of Echo Canyon, Old Town and Cathedral Rock subdivisions until further notice.
