Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – Las Vegas Metro Police say a man and woman are dead after a standoff in the southwest valley turned deadly Thursday night.

Investigators say it started around 7:30pm when the man entered a nail salon near Eastern and Serene and forcefully took a woman who police said was the man’s ex-girlfriend.

After leaving the scene, police say they got a vehicle description, which led them to a home in a gated community near Fort Apache and Sunset.

Metro SWAT officers were sent to the scene when initial attempts to get the man to surrender failed.

Other occupants who were in the home at the time, including a young child, were released unharmed during the standoff. After not hearing from the suspect for awhile, SWAT officers then entered the home and found both the female victim and the suspect deceased.

The names of the people involved weren’t released. No officers were hurt.
