Standoff with murder suspect closes portion of Southern Beltway

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A portion of the 215 Southern Beltway was closed as police dealt with a murder suspect in the early morning hours Monday.

The standoff, which closed 215 in both directions between Eastern and St. Rose Parkway, was related to a homicide investigation near Hacienda and Grand Canyon. Police say the man stabbed his wife to death.

Police say they first received a call around 12:30am from the couple’s son, who told police his dad was strangling his mom. Investigators say that the man fled the scene, but his truck was located near Rainbow and 215 and police gave chase. That chase ended on 215 East past Eastern around 3:30am, and the standoff began.

Metro taking the suspect into custody around 5:30am. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital with what were described as self-inflicted wounds.

The name of the man, and of his wife, has not yet been released.
