
Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – A former student at Eldorado High School who pled guilty to attacking a teacher inside her classroom received his sentence for the crime on Wednesday.
Jonathan Martinez Garcia, who was 16 at the time of the April 2022 attack, will spend anywhere from 16 to 40 years behind bars, with credit for time served.
Police say that the attack occurred when Martinez-Garcia went to the classroom after the school day was done to ask about his grades.
Another employee at the school later discovered the victim.
Martinez-Garcia had pleaded guilty to attempted murder, attempted sexual assault, and battery with use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm.
