Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – An 18-year old charged with the fatal shooting of another 18-year-old over the weekend made his first court appearance on Tuesday.

Damian Delgado is charged with open murder for the shooting that happened Sunday night in a neighborhood near Craig and Nellis.

Police say the victim was walking home from a party, and another group was walking behind him. Police say that at some point, Delgado pulled out a gun and shot the victim. The rest of the group that was with Delgado then fled.

The person who was shot died at the scene. Their identity has yet to be released.

In court on Tuesday, a judge decided there was enough evidence against Delgado to keep him locked up until his next scheduled court appearance.

In a separate shooting from the weekend, a 19-year-old is charged with killing a man in the northwest valley early Monday.

Police discovered the body of a man in the parking lot of the Walgreens at Durango and Deer Springs.

Through the course of their investigation, detectives were able to identify 19-year-old Joshua Martinez as the suspect.

LVMPD SWAT served a search warrant at a residence and were able to safely take Martinez into custody. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for open murder.
