Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) – The Clark County District Attorney’ Office says a 17-year-old Las Vegas boy who faces murder charges after police say he intentionally struck and killed a bicyclist with his car will be charged as an adult
The incident happened the morning of August 14th near Centennial Parkway and Tenaya. Police responded to a call of a 64-year-old man who had been struck while riding his bike. The vehicle fled the scene.
Police later found the car, which was determined to have been stolen, and were able to arrest the driver. The driver, who hasn’t yet been identified because of his age, was also linked to several other car thefts.
The bicyclist, identified as Andreas Probst, was taken to U.M.C., but died from his injuries. Probst moved to Las Vegas after serving as the chief of police in Bell, California
Murder charges were added after Metro was alerted to a video on social media which showed the collision. In the video, the driver at first intentionally sideswipes a car, then is shown driving right into Probst, who can be seen flying over the windshield. The video then shows Probst lying in the street as the car drives off.
